Robert Roan Logan Design
The primary focus of Robert Logan’s research is an exploration of the possibilities for integration of emerging technologies into contemporary jewellery.
The increasingly pervasive spread of digital technology within objects is becoming part of everyday life raising questions about protection of digital information, sustainability and disposability. Logan’s work examines our relationship with these objects and how digital integration affects notions of value and worth.
The outcome of this project so far has been the creation of jewellery pieces using a combination of digital technologies and traditional jewellery making techniques. The resulting pendants respond to the owners choice to wear them by reciprocating this ‘emotional’ investment and opening up to display hidden bespoke cut precious stones, a subtle movement that closes when the pendant is not in use.
